Getting Sick as an Adult Sucks!

So, I was doing pretty well with my goal of posting every other day until I got sick... it will be 4 weeks on Friday and I am still sick! FML!

I had a run-of-the-mill cold but it turned into bronchitis. How and why you ask? Because I have to be an adult!

Apparently a cold turns into an upper respiratory infection when you don't get the rest you need to get better. Too bad you can't afford to take any more sick days off from work! Getting sick as a kid was awesome! You got to stay home from school, sleep, watch TV, and if you had a stay-at-home mom she probably brought you soup and got you an extra blanket. Worst case scenario: you had to stay after school later that week to make up a test or go to the doctor to get some nasty cough medicine. Honestly, I liked getting sick as a kid because it was a nice break!

Now, not so much. Getting sick now means you have to either go to work and hack up a lung in between client calls or stay home and try to reply to the string of panicked emails from people thinking the sky is falling because you aren't there to hold it up. Seriously, does anyone else work while you are gone? The third option - stay home and sleep - isn't viable because you have meetings scheduled and people are depending on you. So, you go into work half dead and sounding like Batman... which would be cool if your throat didn't feel like it was on fire! Alas, when your co-workers ask you a question and you reply in your sexy chain-smoker Christian Bale voice and they ask if you are sick you have to resist the urge to say, "No $#!* Sherlock!" or face a not-to-pleasant conversation with HR.

After the first week you come to the realization that you are dying. Maybe you should have just given up and stayed home because time doesn't heal all - sleep does!

Thank you for tuning into our "Random Stream of Consciousness: Self Pity" series. We will now return to our regularly scheduled programming...

We have more geeky crafts, Comic Con pictures, and hilarity in the works! I even have something in store for you Dr. Who out there ;)
